Abstract

The CRIS-613 drought tolerant cotton cultivar was developed through hybridization conventional breeding method at the experimental field of Sakrand. It significantly produced maximum seed cotton yield in series of trials at Sakrand and at 11 different agro-climatic conditions of Sindh and Pakistan. The CRIS-613 is drought tolerant variety as it given 17.46% and 9.69% higher yield in moderate (21 days of intervals) and severe (29 days of intervals) water stress conditions. It also possesses standard fiber quality parameters. The CRIS-613 has yield potential up to 5000 kg ha-1, but it depends upon the adaptation of best management practices. It is non Bt. variety tolerant to sucking insect pests and disease, its best sowing time is 15th April to 15th May, on flat sowing its need 8-10 kg seed acre-1and on bed furrow 5-6 kg acre-1. Plant to plant spacing 30 cm and row to row 75 cm. 9-10 irrigations on bed furrow and 4-6 on flat sowing. Four-time inter-culturing needed, 1stafter 20 days and subsequent 15-20 days. The optimum dose of N, P and K is 150 kg N + 50 kg P2O5+50 kg K2O hectare-1. Picking 03 (Three) 1st when 40-50 bolls may open at 120 days after sowing. The variety features were presented in technical expert subcommittee and after that proposal was submitted and present in Sindh Seed Council. Keeping in view the performance and silent features of CRIS-613 it was approved and recommended for general cultivation in Sindh during the year 2020
